The COPI team just completed our annual Admin Trip, where we met with the national nongovernmental organization (NGO) regulator, local school officials, and the dedicated staff of the orphanages, schools, and charity houses supported by Children of Peace International (COPI).

Scholarships: Supporting Students Who Need It Most

After meeting with the Education Department in Phu Yen and local officials in Vinh Long, we recognized the urgent need to increase our scholarship amounts. These funds cover approximately 50% of school fees for each child—while the government provides the other 50%.

Without this support, impoverished families would face unsustainable educational costs, making it difficult or impossible to send their children to school.

COPI funds education from 3rd grade through 12th grade, and the average annual cost is just $106 per student.

Building Brighter Futures in Sa Pa

We were honored to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for a kindergarten expansion in Sa Pa, Lai Cao Province. This rural 2-room school will be doubled in size, adding two new classrooms, restrooms, and a teacher’s preparation room.

A heartfelt thank-you to the New England–Bermuda District of Key Club, whose $50,000 donation funded the majority of this $61,500 project.

What’s Ahead: New Projects in the Works

We’re currently in conversation about additional school expansions in Phu Yen Province (central rural Vietnam) and Vinh Long Province (in the Mekong Delta). Both regions are predominantly rural, with high poverty rates and large ethnic minority populations. While project details are still being finalized, early estimates suggest that each expansion could cost between $75,000 and $100,000.

Our People on the Ground Make It Happen

COPI’s impact is only possible thanks to our many volunteers in Vietnam, who help facilitate medical missions and oversee school construction projects.

We also employ two full-time staff members in Vietnam. Their vital work includes:

  • Maintaining frequent contact with every scholarship recipient
  • Monitoring student progress and attendance
  • Encouraging children to believe in themselves and their future
